Biomass thermal generation

In February 2022, UKRTEPLO built a modern biomass boiler house with a capacity of 20 MW in Rivne. This is the largest facility of its kind in Western Ukraine and a landmark example of the transition to clean and renewable energy.
Why is this important:
saving up to 10 million m³ of gas each year - replacing imported gas with local biomass.
reliable heat for Rivne - the boiler house provides a third of the city's needs, including 91 high-rise buildings and 12 social facilities.
environmental friendliness and sustainable development - wood chips and energy willow are used, which are planted on an industrial scale around the city.
Future strategy:
The project in Rivne became part of the Green Transition initiative. Rivne”, which provides for:
switching 70% of city boiler houses to biofuels within 3–4 years
complete transition of Rivneteploenergo to renewable sources within the next decade.
UKRTEPLO is implementing technologies that allow Ukraine to become more energy independent, reduce the impact of fossil fuels on the economy and the environment, and create a new culture of energy consumption.

UKRTEPLO implements modern solutions in the field of bioenergy, among which energy willow occupies a key place. This is a unique fast-growing crop that makes it possible to obtain ecological biofuels and forms the basis for the development of renewable energy in Ukraine.
Advantages of energy willow:
High yield - up to 12-15 tons of dry biomass per hectare per year.
Rapid recovery - after cutting, the bush grows quickly and provides stable yields for 20-25 years.
Economic benefit - biofuel from willow is several times cheaper than natural gas and coal.
Environmental friendliness - replacing fossil fuels reduces CO₂ emissions and makes energy cleaner.
Local resource - willow is grown in Ukraine, ensuring energy independence and the development of rural areas.
The area of fields under the cultivation of the UKRTEPLO group of companies is 100 hectares.
Wood chips are made from energy willow, which is used in UKRTEPLO boiler houses to produce thermal energy. This allows replacing thousands of cubic meters of imported gas and providing cities with affordable and clean heat.

UKRTEPLO continues to invest in Ukraine's energy independence by implementing a large-scale project to build a fuel terminal in the village of Try Koptsi.
The first stage of the terminal, with a capacity of 50 thousand m³, has already been put into operation. It ensures efficient storage of wood and production of wood chips, which contributes to a stable supply of biofuel for thermal power plants and other consumers.
The second stage of the project involves expanding capacity to 300 thousand m³, which will significantly increase the volume of wood storage and processing, meeting the growing demand for bioenergy in Ukraine.
Project advantages:
Energy independence - reducing dependence on imported energy resources through the development of domestic biofuel production.
Infrastructure modernization - creating a modern facility that meets European standards for wood storage and processing.
Job creation - the implementation of the project contributes to the development of the local economy and the creation of new jobs in the region.
UKRTEPLO continues to implement modern solutions in the energy sector of Ukraine, promoting the development of bioenergy and ensuring the sustainable energy development of the country.
